RF2F

What is RF2F authentication?
Two Factor Authentication or, in our case RF2F, requires you to identify yourself twice: first with something you know (your Rural Finance supplied web login reference and password) and then with something that you have. This is activated by using your mobile telephone(s) to generate a unique One-Time Password (OTP). Even if cyber-criminals capture your Rural Finance supplied web login and password, your enhanced Rural Finance online banking services cannot be accessed without a RF2F OTP that has been sent via SMS to your mobile telephone(s). The RF2F OTP changes every 90 seconds, so it is only valid for a very short period of time thereby minimising the risk of fraudulent access.

Benefits of RF2F authentication

  • Access to enhanced online banking features, which includes Pay Anyone;
  • Easy to activate and use;
  • RF2F is provided as a free service;
  • Substantially improved defence against the latest cyber crimes including Phishing, Trojans and Spyware.

Activating RF2F authentication
Activating RF2F is a simple one-off process. The activation process ensures that it is in fact you who has requested RF2F and not a cyber criminal.
To activate RF2F login to www.ruralfinanceonline.com with your Rural Finance supplied reference number and password, as well as an answer to one of your five nominated questions that were established during the initial Web login setup. After successfully logging in follow the steps outlined below to activate RF2F.

1. Click the menu item Activate RF2F;
2. Enter the mobile telephone number(s) that you wish to have your unique one time password sent to;
3. Press the Submit button to complete the activation process.

After completing the activation process you will receive a RF2F activation letter within 3 business days of your request. The activation letter will contain a unique six character activation PIN. Enter the PIN as it appears on your letter at your next login. If the PIN has been successfully entered, you will be presented with a message stating that activation has been successful.

For all subsequent logins you will have the option of authenticating using RF2F.

Logging in using RF2F authentication
Logging in using RF2F is similar to the existing login process; however after providing a valid Rural Finance reference and password you will be sent a One Time Password (OTP) via SMS to your nominated mobile telephone(s). Enter the OTP exactly as displayed on your mobile telephone in the area provided on the login screen; however be aware that the OTP is valid only for 90 seconds. If you take longer than 90 seconds to enter the OTP it will be invalid and you must start the login process again or provide an answer to one of your five nominated questions, however by providing an answer you won’t have access to the enhanced online banking features.

After logging in using RF2F, you will have access to enhanced online banking services.
