Australian Sheep Update April 2017

Lamb and mutton prices both had a blistering start to 2017. The national trade lamb indicator has averaged 14.5% higher in the first quarter of 2017 compared to the last quarter of 2016, more than double the 5 year average increase of 6.5%.

Australian Sheep Update December 2016

The Ag Answers team’s latest report presents a positive long-term outlook for Australian sheep farmers.

Prices are higher and supply lower than this time last year and the national trade lamb indicator is on track to record its fourth consecutive year of growth, averaging 3% higher than 2015.

Strong domestic and export demand, lower production and reduced export competition from New Zealand should lead to further increases in lamb prices in 2017.

Australian Wool Update November 2016

Sheep and Wool Update July 2016

The 2016 Australian Sheep and Wool Update provides producers and industry with a concise analysis of the sheep and wool sectors.

With data on vegetation and rainfall, price, production and demand for sheep meat and wool, the report presents key trends in global and domestic markets.

The report indicates that Australian lamb and mutton prices and export demand are expected to remain strong this year. Similarly, wool prices have maintained gains made during 2015 and export trends appear set to continue.
